Whenever I get to paint a commission, I provide my client with 2 or 3 sketches and then it’s up to them to chose a favorite. Of course, that means that some of those sketches get declined. It happens that I fell in love with one of those declined sketches and decide to paint it for myself. This painting was a case of a declined sketch, which I couldn’t leave unfinished.
I loved the idea of two children traveling through a magical land with their rabbit companion. On their way to the picnic site, they have to cross river and the ferry is operated by a couple of frogs, who want some of the picnic food as their payment for taking the kids across the river.
